I love Advent Rising, and I throughly enjoy the story but I am going to be very brief and blunt about this any say that completely dislike the comic. The artwork completely left me wanting to pull out my hair or go cry in a courner out of shame. Why? The art style, how the characters hold themselves, and the style of motion is just completely unlike the game! One of the reasons Advent Rising appealed to me so much was because of the life and appeal the artist style had in the game. Here I think the comic book completely threw that away. Right when I saw the panels, my opinion of Advent Rising went down like lead. I believe the character designer for the game had the right idea. The artwork had a favor simuliar to one of my favorite artist Ramos (Crimson) or to how Fable‘s art looked. On the up side, I would say the story does seem enjoyable, yet a bit out of place, since the story after the comics, in the video game, has quite a different feel to it.

Hi Sarah…thanks for the comments. I’m sorry the artwork didn’t appeal to you. In my opinion the art of the book continues to improve although it definitely doesn’t aspire to that stylized look that you’ll find Humberto Ramos or even Billy Dallas Patton (who drew the free ‘Advent’ 8-pager that DC published back in the summer) employing.
I do agree that there’s a significant stylistic difference between the game and the book. Hopefully you’ll hang in there for the story…if your hair can stand it! 🙂
