b2evolution version 0.9.1 on the scene 2

Looks like there’s a spiffy new incremental upgrade to b2evolution as well.

Important improvements include better spam controls and optimized performance.

Other things involve wiki and wacko and I don’t really know what all that’s about.

The upgrade path isn’t as simple as we’d like it to be, but anyone who installed b2evolution on their server once and can still read and follow directions should have no problems.

Honestly, I blogged about it back when I selected b2evolution but I don’t recall what my specific preferences were any more.

The prevailing thing was that this site was launced with the old b2 software and b2evolution was one of two products that were grown directly from the b2 source (WordPress being the other), so I figured the upgrade path would be smooth.

I went to the OpenSourceCMS site and tried the editing tools for both and b2evo had a few things that I wanted, which WordPress lacked…can’t remember what those things were.

Although b2evo continues to develop with a version 2 that promises to be a huge leap over the 0.9 path, it definitely seems like betamax to WordPress’ vhs at times. It currently doesn’t hold the install base that WP does and doesn’t seem to get the community support (example: gallery integration) that WP gets.

Regardless, it’s a nice blog package and I recommend it to anyone considering blogging.
