The end is near

The mother ship will be parking over DC today. The ocean’s salinization levels are out of whack. The earth’s core has stopped spinning. Scientists have accidentally opened a gateway to Hell.

Take your pick. Something’s going down today. I’m not sure what.

Proof? The cats are both acting like the sky is falling. There’s no explanation for it, other than the unspecified disaster that’s about to hit.

Every day Itchy and Scratchy look forward to some outdoor time. It’s the highlight of thier day. Today, Itchy would not venture off the front porch. After 10 minutes he wanted back in the house.

Scratchy, who would normally be waiting at the door to spring out for his own tour, was nowhere to be found. I had to search the entire house until he finall emerged from his hiding place, eyes wide. After some coaxing he went outside. Like Itchy, he would not leave the porch. He had no interest in the birds that landed on the ground near him. When I touched his fur, I felt spring-wound muscles underneath, tense and ready to snap into action (or retreat). He was out for 15 minutes.

I don’t know what’s going down, but the cats do.

Brace yourself.
