YAO at Motor City Report – First Honorary Ancient Ones Inducted 1

I put in an appearance at the Motor City Comic Con this weekend. Although this is the small, fall version of the con (with the big show happening in May) the show is a good time and a great opporunity to chat with the guests (something that’s hard to do at bigger shows).

Kelsey Shannon is an honorary ancient oneI dropped hundreds of “Young Ancient One” tattoos on the freebie table on my way in and they were gone in a matter of hours. Hopefully some of the people who picked them up found their way back to this site with the URL that’s printed on them. 🙂

As promised I brought my binder of art from the book with me. Everybody who looked agreed that Andy Kuhn is doing some amazing work.

Kelsey Shannon, artist on “Bastard Samurai” and “Batman Adventures” (among others) became the first honorary Ancient One, by slapping on our tattoo and taking a picture with it.

Cully Hamner is an honorary Ancient OneCully Hamner, founding member of Kelsey’s new home at Gaijin Studios also donned the mark (and was terrorized by it for the remainder of the show).

Andy Lee proudly wore his new tattoo as he painted a commissioned piece based on “Young Ancient One”. It’s a beauty too!

That painting, along with photos of our comic-creating friends, can be found in the new Honorary Ancient Ones album!

Andy Lee is an honorary Ancient OneIt was great to hear all the supportive remarks about the book.

Are you sporting a YAO tatto? If so, take a picture of yourself and send it to me robbo@comics2film.com and I’ll put you in the gallery!

Speaking of YAO tattoos, the P.O. box has been jammed with requests for them. The first wave got mailed out today. I do want to let everyone know that there are plenty here and, if you want more than one, just drop a note in the envelope saying so. You don’t need to mail a seperate request for each one. Save the postage! Click here for information about getting your free YAO tatto!
