What is it with spiders, anyhow? Why do they have to look so creepy? I mean, they’ve got eight legs and, what, like six eyes. Who uses six eyes? They need three, max. Six just looks weird.
It seems to me that there are many more spiders around this summer than past summers. Outside my house the shrubs are all just blanketed with spider web tents. These things are created by the brown wolf spider, which is very common here. Usually I only see a few of these tents on some isolated shrubs, but this year there are two or three on every shrub, and the bush they commonly camp out in is now covered with these tents.
This year, however, I’m seeing a different kind of spider that I’ve never seen before. These things are even more freaky looking than the wolf. They have large, bulbous rear-ends and some striping. They spin the more traditional “round” webs. When I get too close to them they wig out and start skittering frantically around the center of the web, which causes the whole works to jiggle up and down. Very creepy looking.

AHHH! You have a Spider Ranch churning out millions of those unholy little Kritters!!!! They lay their eggs in you ears at night when you sleep you know……

I have heard tale that a spider going in the ear feels just like that earwig thing they put into Checkovs Helmet in one of those Star Treks… (was is Wrath of Khan?) All I know is I don’t want to be a host to an unruly spider army!
So, SPIDER-MAN is off your reading list now, then?
Needless to say, I have never been a fan of the Spidey comics. 🙂
Ok – I’m officially creeped out. I have terrible aracnaphobia but still had to look. My skin is all crawly now and I feel that things are walking through my hair. Ew. I can feel it now – I’m gonna have nightmares. How do you live like that??? I would have to move or exterminate or something. I’d never leave my house.
